SCAD’s shops & donations
We are classed as non-essential retail, and in line with Government requirements we closed earlier this month. We will reopen as soon as the Government gives us the go-ahead. Until then, please can we ask that you do not leave any donations for us outside shops. The weather, and unfortunately, thieves, means that such donations are often destroyed or stolen.
All our staff are furloughed to a greater or less extent, and if you leave donations for us, it adds extra stresses to the charity at a moment when we are concentrating everything we have to providing transport for people who really need it. We don’t have the staff or volunteers around to process them, and as the shops are not open, we do not have the space to store them. This is not just us – it applies to all of the charity shops. We are really grateful for donations when things are normal, but for now, please can you hang onto your donations until charities can reopen their doors.
Thank you!

RETAIL
Our shops go a very long way to fund our services. With stock which turns over very quickly, why not make us your first port of call when you need something, or when you are looking for a worthy cause to donate your unwanted items to for sale. If you are looking for a specific something – why not have a chat to us – if we don’t have it now, it may be donated tomorrow and we can call you.
We are unfortunately not able to offer a collection service for donations nor can we accept electrical items or large items of furniture.
Our shops offer a wide range of household items as well as clothes, shoes and accessories – you can be assured of finding some fabulous bargains.
As well as household and clothes items, we always have a wide selection of books, records, toys, mirrors, vases, ornaments and small items of furniture. All year round we have a choice of baby and children’s clothes and items such as push chairs and prams.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly sorting and displaying the goods which are donated by the local community – and you can be assured that all the proceeds from the sales are reinvested locally, helping to finance the minibus fleet that provides such a vital service.
Our Charity shops are open, and operating with all the normal social distancing in place. We are able to receive limited donations of clothing and household items for sale. However, because of the rules on keeping donations aside for up to 72 hours we can be limited on space. Please check directly with the shop to avoid disappointment. Please do not leave donations outside a closed shop – the donations could easily be stolen or damaged beyond use by the weather.
